Artur de Jesus Motheo

Artur J. Motheo has BS in Chemistry (1976), Master in Physical Chemistry (1980) and Doctor of Science, concentration area Physical Chemistry (1986) at the São Carlos Institute of Physics and Chemistry, University of São Paulo. Post-doctoral training at the University of California, Davis (1988-1990). His current position is Full Professor in the Department of Physical Chemistry of the São Carlos Institute of Chemistry (IQSC), University of São Paulo. He supervised 18 PhD and 24 MSc. theses, 10 post-doctorates and published 132 papers in scientific journals.

Currently serves as vice-chairman of the Department of Physical Chemistry of IQSC, vice-secretary of sub-section of the Brazilian Chemical Society (2014-2016) and general secretary of the Sociedad Iberoamericana de Electroquímica (2014-2018).

His research interests are:

Environmental electrochemistry: degradation of endocrine disruptors by electrochemical methods, sonolysis and advanced oxidation processes applied for water reuse.

Conductive polymers: Synthesis and characterization of conductive polymers, copolymers and composites to be applied for corrosion protection of metallic alloys.
